The XBee modules arrive today. For a mere $19 you get an FCC-approved 802.15.4 radio + MCU with standard headers to plug right into a breadboard for your next project. The modules come programmed with a MAC address, Zigbee and their proprietary modem control system via the UART. I plan to reflash the guys for my own project.
