FreeRTOS and SMAC [Permalink] Thu Mar 23 06:53:01 PST 2006 I made SMAC compatible with FreeRTOS for the HCS08 chipset. There are two projects here:
1. The latest FreeRTOS for HCS08: FreeRTOS-3.2.4.hcs08.v3.zip
The FreeRTOS + SMAC project needs to be at the same root level as the RTOS and SMAC projects. (You have to get SMAC 4.1a from Freescale.) The sample project will use preemptive threading to send/receive a simple message between two EVBs [DIG536-2]. It should be the basis for any simple 802.15.4 project that would like to use preemptive multitasking. Jeff

FreeRTOS [Permalink] Sat Mar 18 15:36:55 PST 2006 It seems that FreeGeeks.net is pretty much dead, so I'm pointing the project files for FreeRTOS/HCS08 here. Steps
1. Download and install FreeRTOS 3.2.4: FreeRTOS
3. Unpack it into a temporary directory.

XBee 802 15 4 module arrived [Permalink] Fri Mar 17 07:49:01 PST 2006 The XBee modules arrive today. For a mere $19 you get an FCC-approved 802.15.4 radio + MCU with standard headers to plug right into a breadboard for your next project. The modules come programmed with a MAC address, Zigbee and their proprietary modem control system via the UART. I plan to reflash the guys for my own project.

FreeRTOS ported to HCS08 [Permalink] Wed Mar 15 12:12:49 PST 2006 I succeeded in providing a first (rough) port of FreeRTOS to the Freescale HCS08 8-bit MCUs. The CodeWarrior project file supports the the Freescale DIG536-2 (SARD) and the DIG528-2 (EVB) evaluation boards. These boards include an 802.15.4/Zigbee transceiver, so this is the basis for very low cost, pre-emptive multitasking wireless application.
